The Mix – interactive jazz drinks
An Arduino-powered drinking experience – as you enjoy your drink of choice, more instruments will be added to the music you hear.
This five-day project greeted me on my second year in Dundee University. In a group of twelve designers, we were to provide a new experience for the upcoming banquet. What we ended up with is a set of four drinks, each representing a different group of instruments and served in a special cup. The cups were equipped with pressure sensors powered by an Arduino board, hooked up to a Processing sketch which estimated the amount of drinks left and mixed music tracks accordingly.
I wrote the software to interpret the pressure sensors and mix the jazz samples composed by Michael Bacich. It was great fun!
